Midsummer

Powdered ivory ice sky clay,

Rolling pin clouds, reveal the day,

An inhale, a moment, of post storm peace,

An inhale, a moment, of harmony achieved,

Now, diamond drops of dew,

Frame lily petals of royal citrus maroon,

We exhale our in/finitude,

Like burning sun, reflective moon.

Day 29 NaPoWriMo: Specific Noun From Favorite Poem: Flower

Like humans, flowers gestate in the dark,

Each fed by time, water and sunlight spark,

A flower can be wild, can be a weed,

Can overtake expansive space, starting out as small seed,

The line between admiration and envy,

A comma, so common, yet breathtaking, begin and ending.

Read one of my favorite poems whose specific noun, flower, inspired my poem:

“When Death Comes” by Mary Oliver:

Day 19 NaPoWriMo: Creation

The beginning, that part is typically an explosion of boring,

If I told you, you’d be snoring,

Most growth happens undetected to eyes,

Then when we see new clear view, we feel surprised,

Endless mountains humbled by endless ocean waves,

To begin and to end is much the same.

Friend (Sending Song)

The inspiration for this song is the awe, wonder and delight I feel for the human race and all those who have become friends along this journey that is life. To all of you, those I have met and those I have yet to meet:

This is where our paths do part,

Though I’ll hold you ever in my heart,

You are where I begin and end

and I’m so blessed to call you a friend.

I pray the light would reach you

Guide you and teach you

I send you all the love I can send,

I’m so blessed to call you a friend,

And I pray you’ll be as blessed,

Until the day so sweet, when our paths will cross again,

Our paths will cross again.
