NaPoWriMo Day 11: A poem that addresses the future

The light/shadow of the future calls,

My body moves in lock step with time’s song,

Within the days yet to be

I clearly hear and see,

Pots of bubbling soup, wind chimes and child’s laughter,

Order from chaos, chaos from order, cyclical before and after’s,

Melodies,

Mentors and Mentees,

Abundant birds nest,

Moments of frenetic energy balanced with much needed rest,

Cups of tea

That line the seas,

Friends who are happy to listen and help as they can,

Rain, flowers and a trip to Japan,

Finding peace with Sisyphean boulders,

Young at heart, yet getting older,

All these and more the future holds for me,

I trust and into it I step, confidently.

What truth

Are you rising to?

Awe filled lungs, watery sky,

Are you floating in or passing by?

Do you trust your breath?

Or do you only worry about the next?

Who taught you? Who cares?

Forgettable lesson, fiery endless stairs,

To step off remind yourself of transition, pause,

Steps already learned, applause,

You are river, cloud and song,

You are wind, perfect subjective combination
